Dr Keith Hearne (BSc MSc PhD)
Dr Keith Hearne, born at Reading in Berkshire, England, is an internationally known psychologist who conducted the world’s first sleep-laboratory research into ‘lucid’ dreams (in which the dreamer becomes fully aware of being in a dream) for his PhD – completed in 1978 at Liverpool University. In the course of that research, he invented the ‘dream machine’. The original sleep-lab chart records from his pioneering research, and a dream machine, are on permanent display at the Science Museum in London.
He is the Principal of the European College of Hypnotherapy and a therapist of renown. He has lectured widely, and introduced several major new therapeutic techniques (including hypno-oneirography, hypno-epigenetics and hypno-genetics). He teaches hypnotherapy, past-life therapy and spirit releasing therapy.
He is frequently in the media, especially television, here and abroad. In one recent programme he was filmed curing a 36 y.o. woman who had suffered nightmares for as long as she could remember. On the TV programme ‘This Morning’ (he’s their dream expert) he introduced the topic of past life regression, by giving a demonstration. Dr Hearne had, for over a year, a regular column in The Express newspaper every Thursday with David Melbourne, on dream interpretation.
He had a natural interest in classical music as a child and learned to play the piano at an early age. He started to compose little musical pieces before his teens. He learned violin at school and played in the school orchestra. Later his attention was drawn away from music by his interest in psychology, but in recent years he has composed several works including a full Requiem, Musical, Guitar concerto: several religious pieces including a Pie Jesu, Ave Maria, Our Father, The Apostles’ Creed, Benedictus, a Carol, Nunc Dimittis, Magnificat; and several Songs; as well as this Ballet.
